FROM THE BRIDGE

Freedom Boat Club of Lake Conroe

To help to keep the fleet in great shape, please follow the club rules and procedures presented during your orientation.  Here are a few reminders, please read:

NO BEACHING

Beaching of club boats is not allowed on Lake Conroe, any boat, anywhere, any time. A recent beaching resulted in an engine overheating which kept the boat out of service for repairs. Lake Conroe does NOT have sandy shorelines; there are rocks and debris that cause damage to hull, pump, and engine. Stay in waters that are at least 3 1/2 deep.

DO NOT CROSS UNDER ANY BRIDGE

Operation north of the 1097 bridge is not allowed. Please do not go under bridges. Each year bimini tops are damaged often putting boats out of commission until repaired. With special permission, members may transit to and from their property in a safe area.

MARGARITAVILLE DOCKS

The buoys marking the narrowly-dredged channel leading to Landshark Bar & Grill docks are sometimes missing. Docking in front of Landshark is not authorized when buoys are missing.

The docks in the lagoon are still useable however.

If you are going to anchor in front of Margaritaville, exercise care approaching the shallow area. Stay in waters that are at least 3 1/2 deep. Start from the center of the channel marked with buoys and approach slowly using the depth finder and Navionics.

Reminder, FBC Plus deductible buy-down does not cover intentional operation in unauthorized locations. Please refer to the map which should be on every boat.

DOCKING

Always have fenders out before docking. They must be in the proper place and the right height to protect the boat. Use three on docking/line tie-off side. Dock fenders help protect against both impact and rubbing. As you approach, examine the dock or slip for anything that could cause damage. Before you leave a docked boat, ensure it is properly tied and protected.

International reciprocal reservations require 30 days ADVANCE NOTICE to plan. If you are looking at traveling internationally this year, please remember that boat safety and training vary out of the USA. Training can take full days so engaging a Skipper may be a better option (cost varies and is paid in advance). To coordinate, international reciprocal reservations require 30 days ADVANCE NOTICE to plan. There is a form to fill out (see Member FAQS)

Information can be found in the Member FAQs (accessible from top of Reservations).
Use the form under Additional Training, line nine.  SEE the INTERNATIONAL section.
After filling it out, Captain John Foster or Sande Olson will assist.
